Established in Sydney in 1984
Devino was established in Sydney in 1984, built on a passion for exceptional pearls, specialist knowledge and lasting relationships within the international pearl industry. Over more than four decades, these foundations have shaped Devino into the family business it is today.
A Heritage of Pearl Expertise
Our expertise, however, reaches back even further. Founder Rudi began working with pearls in Switzerland in 1970 before moving to Japan during the golden years of Akoya pearl production. Immersed in one of the world's most important pearl centres, he gained first-hand experience in pearl cultivation, grading and selection, knowledge that would later become the foundation of Devino.
Relationships Built Over Generations
As the South Sea pearl industry developed, Devino formed close relationships with pioneering pearl producers and farming families, many of which have continued across generations. These longstanding connections have given us privileged access to beautiful pearls from trusted sources and remain an important part of the way we work today.
The Next Generation
Now in its second generation, Devino continues as a family business led by the same appreciation for quality, craftsmanship and personal service. Rudi's extensive knowledge and sourcing expertise are complemented by his daughter Caroline's contemporary approach, bringing together decades of experience with a fresh perspective for the future.
Devino Today
From our Sydney office, Caroline and Karen work closely with jewellers and retailers, offering personal service, expert advice and a carefully considered selection of pearls. Rudi also remains actively involved, travelling internationally and maintaining the relationships developed over a lifetime in the pearl industry.
